Mayor Reynaldo Uy met with the Calbayog media today (July 6, 2010). He used the occasion to reiterate the programs of government which he laid out in his inaugural address during the recent oath-taking ceremonies.

Many matters were were discussed during the presscon, among these are the plan to put in place the Calbayog City Hospital, the re-implementation of the Calbayog Tri-District (3-D) Program, and the need to increase local revenues. He also acknowledged that the City is financially stable and that former Mayor Mel Sarmiento managed the city exceptionally well.

Worth noting is the Mayor's stand on the cityhood of some municipalities, particularly those in Samar. Mayor Uy himself admitted that he has a different stand compared to that of his predecessor Congressman Mel Sarmiento. While he has no comment on the case of the 16 cities which is still pending in he Supreme Court, Mayor Uy believes that it's about time that we allow others to grow. "If we want to grow, why can't we allow others to grow"

Present during the presscon were CTIO Erlinda Calesa, Gina Ragudo (samarnews.com), Jennifer Sumagang-Allegado (DYOG), Merlie Laure-Tangpos (DYOG), Gene Navilon (DYOG), Noel Franco (CCTC Channel 8), Ike Macasa (CMO), Lorna Cortado (CTIO), Irene Pastrana (CTIO),
