almost there

I was at Nijaga Park last weekend and saw some LGU personnel busy with some final nitty gritty in preparation for the activities which will officially open the observance of the 60th Calbayog Charter Day Anniversary.

The streamers are out and the stalls (for the Agro-Indsutrial Fair) are almost finished. Nijaga Park is the venue for a good number of activites slated for the Charter Day celebration.

Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap has been invited to the celebration.

The City Forest and Marble Park

We drove to Brgy. San Joaquin today to savor what's left with the fiesta in a friend's house (read: nanliwas). Along the way, I noticed some sights that many of us take for granted. One of these is the City Forest and Marble Park located in Malopalo, a barangay which is a few meters away from Malajog Beach.

A few years ago, there was a move to make the area a quarry site that will produce marble. The material in the area is said to be of better quality compared to that of Romblon. Fortunately, the locales and some NGOs opposed the move. I'll take it from there. In the meantime, this natural wonder stays for everyone to appreciate and thank God for the beauty that is Calbayog.

sprucing up Nijaga Park

I was at Nijaga Park last Sunday to check on some stuff at the City Arts and Culture Office. The place was kinda crowded (consindering it was midday).

I saw some kids take time to play at the swing and slide at the back of the Rizal Monument . . .

. . . as workers take time to paint the benches and lamposts in the park
