U. S. Ambassador Kristie Kenney will visit Calbayog City on Saturday, June 14.
Ambassador Kenney will be on hand for the Closing Ceremony of Pacific Partnership 2008. The said program will be held at the TTMIST Socio-Cultural Center. She will be joined by Captain William Kearns, the mission co-director from the United States Navy, the mission co-director from the Armed Forces of the Philippines Captain Christian Mercado and DFA Assistant Secretary Edsal Custodio. Included in the program is the turn over of Project Hand Clasp donations to the Commission on Health Care of the Diocese of Calbayog.
The envoy will also lead in the dedication of the new Calbayog Main Health Center at Bgry. Capoocan. The said center is one of the projects under the Engineering Civic Action Program (ENCAP) of the Pacific Partnership 2008. The other projects include the repair of the health centers at Santa Margarita and Gandara and the installation of a wastewater treatment facility at Greenland subdivision in Calbayog City.
The other component of the Partnership is the Medical Civic Action Program (MEDCAP) which had medical missions in San Isidro (Northern Samar), Gandara, Santa Margarita and Calbayog City. As of this writing, more the 8,000 individuals have availed of the various medical services under the MEDCAP.
After the Blessing of the Health Center, the Ambassador will proceed to San Policarpo for a book reading session with some selected elementary and high school students.
